Bronze Hourglass Device
The Hourglass Device is awarded as an attachment to the Armed Forces Reserve Medal to members of the U.S. Armed Forces for their dedicated service in the Reserve or National Guard. This prestigious attachment comes in three variations: bronze, indicating 10 years of service; silver, signifying 20 years of service; and gold, representing 30 years of service. For those with 40 years of service, both a bronze and gold Hourglass Device may be worn together—this is the only scenario where two Hourglass Devices can be worn simultaneously.
In 1995, the Mobility Device was authorized to be worn alongside the Hourglass Device. When displayed, the Mobility Device is positioned at the center of the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, with the Hourglass Device to the right and bronze award numerals to the left.
