1st Signal Battalion Unit Crest (In Medias Res)

These distinctive unit insignia (DUI) are worn by the 1st Signal Battalion, featuring the motto "In Medias Res," meaning "Into the Midst of Things." Originally approved in 1932 for the 59th Signal Battalion, redesignated in 1942 for the 1st Armored Signal Battalion, and finally for the 1st Signal Battalion in 1962. Unit crests are worn on the Army Class A Uniform (Greens) and Army Service Uniform (ASU).
