For that service, the predecessor unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Valorous Unit Award, three Republic of Vietnam Crosses of Gallantry with Palm, and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class. The 1st Cavalry Division — The First Team — is headquartered at Fort Cavazos, Texas, and traces its lineage to 1921.
