Gold V Device

The U.S. Military's Gold Valor Device, also known as the 'V' Device, is a special attachment worn on specific awards to signify acts of valor in direct combat. This device distinguishes awards earned in combat from those awarded for non-combat merit. Recommended by a superior, the 'V' Device is centered on the award ribbon or placed on the wearer's right when worn with other attachments, such as oak leaf clusters or stars. Although multiple 'V' Devices may be awarded, only one is worn per award ribbon.
