Numeral Devices are Arabic numerals added to U.S. Army ribbons and medals to show multiple awards of the same honor. These devices are unique to the Army, used only on specific decorations (except the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Air Medal), and distinguish Army awards from those of other military branches.
