Bronze Letter S Device

Marksmanship Devices are prestigious decorations awarded by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard as attachments to the Marksmanship Ribbon, recognizing exceptional marksmanship skills. The U.S. Navy and Coast Guard employ two distinct devices to honor Sharpshooter and Expert qualifications achieved on pistol and rifle qualification courses.

The Sharpshooter Marksmanship Device, known as the 'S Device,' features a bronze letter 'S' for the Navy and a silver letter 'S' for the Coast Guard. The Expert Marksmanship Device, referred to as the 'E Device,' displays a silver letter 'E' and should not be confused with the 'Battle E Device.' This device is worn on the Marksmanship Ribbon in lieu of the full-sized Marksmanship Medal.

Additionally, the U.S. Air Force awards bronze Service Stars to recognize expert qualifications in both rifle and service pistol, showcasing the skill and dedication of its service members.
