The Original Colt M7 bayonet (for the M16 rifle) in *Excellent* condition. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
These bayonets were made by Colt Manufacturing Company, Hartford, Connecticut. These are NOT the more common West German contract produced M7 bayonet.
These have the Colt "Rampant Mustang" logo and part number on the blade.
*NOTE: This is a NON-REFUNDABLE ITEM. The scabbards received with this Genuine Issued Colt M7 bayonet are designed to fit the german G3 and any 7" bayonet including the M7, however, it is for protective purposes only. You can utilize the scabbard on your belt but the canvas will protrude slightly as imaged above due to the fact that the M7 hilt is fatter than the German G3's hilt. Therefore, it does not sit as intended. The scabbards are authentic for the German G3, NOT the M7, and is considered a collectors piece manufactured sometime between the 1960s - 1970s.
The M7 bayonet is a bayonet that was used by the U.S. military for the M16 rifle, it can also be used with the M4 carbine as well as many other assault rifles, carbines and combat shotguns. It can be used as a fighting knife and utility tool. It was introduced in 1964, when the M16 rifle entered service during the Vietnam War.
Blade condition is very good, shows marks from going in and out of the scabbard, minimal wear. ***Some bayonets shipped may be factory brand new and un-sharpened.*** Bayonet cross guards, pommel and scabbard hardware show a few spots of patina the should oil away with ease.
- This item is extremely rare.
- The bayonets are as they were issued, just showing handling marks from years of storage.
- The blades will have light drag marks from the tension spring inside the scabbard.
- The scabbards are collectors pieces themselves, initially designed for the german G3 anywhere from 1960-1979 and are shipped with this colt m7 for protective purposes only.
- Some scabbards show light brown spots on the metal, or can have scratches.
- A few minutes spent cleaning/oiling these can do wonders for the appearance.

I give this a 4 only because I was looking for a Colt Bayonet to go with a Colt AR15 build. The bayonet was in great condition. If you are just wanting a bayonet do not read further. ........The picture of the scabbard does not represent what I received. The scabbard was a black hard "plastic" sheath. There was no M8 marking on it. Scabbard was in great condition also. Personal preference would have been for what was actually in the picture. I did find another website with the same picture (focus was a little different) for the bayonets they were selling. Do not know if the scabbard is they Collector's Item the description claims it to be.
