Gold Hourglass Device
The Hourglass Device is awarded as an attachment to the Armed Forces Reserve Medal for U.S. Armed Forces members who have completed total service in the Reserve or National Guard. This device comes in three colors: bronze for 10 years of service, silver for 20 years, and gold for 30 years. To recognize 40 years of service, individuals can wear both a bronze and gold Hourglass Device together, which is the only instance where two Hourglass Devices can be worn simultaneously.
In 1995, the Mobility Device was authorized to be worn alongside the Hourglass Device. The Mobility Device is positioned in the center of the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, with the Hourglass Device on the wearer's right and bronze award numerals on the left.
