Administered exclusively by the U.S. Army and Air Force, the Oak Leaf Cluster device serves as a prestigious indicator of subsequent awards for specific military decorations, with the exception of Department of Defense awards. Each Oak Leaf Cluster signifies additional honors received, with bronze clusters awarded for the second and subsequent decorations.

A single Silver Oak Leaf Cluster is awarded to recipients who achieve six awards for a particular decoration, replacing the five bronze clusters that would otherwise represent those honors.
