Vietnam Campaign Medal with Date Bar Hat/Lapel Pin
The Medal for the Campaign in the Republic of Vietnam (VCM, VNCM) was an honor bestowed by South Vietnam to acknowledge the contributions of allied forces who served in the Vietnam War for a minimum duration of six months. In the event that service members were wounded, captured, or killed in action, they were automatically eligible for the medal, regardless of the length of their service. An accompanying "1960 Bar" device was designed to signify the years encompassing the entirety of the war. However, due to the Republic of Vietnam being conquered by North Vietnam in 1975, the government ceased to exist, and consequently, no official end date for the bar was established.
