Triple Bronze Star Device

The Bronze Star Device is part of the broader category of service stars, also known as campaign stars, engagement stars, or battle stars. A service star is a U.S. military decoration attachment that signifies participation in military campaigns or multiple awards of the same decoration. These devices are commonly awarded for campaign medals, service medals, ribbon awards, and specific military badges. Unlike award stars, which are issued for multiple meritorious and combat-related decorations, service stars specifically recognize campaign or service achievements. The U.S. military issues both bronze and silver service stars, with silver stars replacing five bronze stars.

• Campaign Star: For example, on a campaign medal, six campaigns served would be denoted by one silver and one bronze service star. In some cases, such as the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, each recipient is entitled to at least one campaign star.
