Vietnam Campaign with Date Bar Full Size Medal
The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM, VNCM) was an accolade bestowed by South Vietnam to honor allied forces who served in the Vietnam War for a minimum of six months. Service members wounded, captured, or killed in action received the medal automatically, regardless of their length of service. The accompanying "1960 Bar" device was designed to signify the war's duration from inception to conclusion. Following North Vietnam's conquest of the Republic of Vietnam in 1975, the government ceased to exist, and no official end date was designated for the bar.
