The design of the SSBN pin showcases a silver Lafayette-class submarine embellished with a superimposed Polaris missile and electron rings, representing the armament and nuclear-powered features of the FBM Deterrent Force. Beneath the submarine, a scroll can hold up to six service stars, with each patrol earning a gold star after the initial one (starting the pin at number one), or a silver star for every five successful patrols. Upon reaching twenty successful patrols, the SSBN pin is upgraded to an esteemed gold design.
