Legion of Merit Medal Ribbon
The Legion of Merit Medal (LM, LOM) is a commendation given by the U.S. Armed Forces to individuals, including foreign military members and political figures, for exceptionally meritorious conduct and outstanding services that far exceed normal standards. For foreign recipients, the award has different degrees: Chief Commander, Commander, Officer, and Legionnaire, each corresponding to different ranks. U.S. military members receive the award without degrees. Additional awards are signified by Oak Leaf Clusters (U.S. Army and Air Force) or Award Stars (U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard). The Valor device is authorized for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard but not for the U.S. Army or Air Force.
