Double Bronze Star Device

The Bronze Star Device is part of the broader category of service stars, also known as campaign stars, engagement stars, or battle stars. A service star is a U.S. military decoration attachment used to signify participation in military campaigns or multiple awards of the same decoration. These devices are commonly awarded for campaign medals, service medals, ribbon awards, and specific military badges. Service stars differ from award stars, which are given for multiple meritorious or combat-related decorations. The U.S. military issues both bronze and silver service stars, with silver stars awarded in place of five bronze stars.

• Campaign Star: For example, on a campaign medal, six campaigns served would be represented by one silver and one bronze service star. In some cases, such as the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, recipients are entitled to at least one campaign star.
