Coast Guard Arctic Service Medal Ribbon

Criteria:

The Arctic Service Medal (ASM) is granted to members of the United States Coast Guard who have fulfilled 21 cumulative days of duty above the Arctic Circle. This service may occur either at sea or on land. Flight personnel qualify for the award after completing 21 flight days north of the circle.

Established in 1976, the medal was retroactively honored back to 1946. It is a one-time award, and no additional devices are authorized for it. Certain individuals outside the Coast Guard may be considered for the award on a case-by-case basis, provided they meet specific criteria and have undertaken significant duties in support of Coast Guard missions.
