The United States Air Force Basic Pilot Badge is a prestigious occupational badge that signifies the successful completion of pilot training and the accomplishment of operational proficiency within the U.S. Air Force. This badge is awarded to Air Force personnel who have achieved the necessary qualifications in aviation and are recognized for their expertise in piloting Air Force aircraft.

Criteria:

• General Officers: Wear the basic badge upon entering a headquarters staff or command position, unless previously qualified for a higher-level badge. After 12 months, they progress to the next higher-level badge, continuing annual upgrades.

• Officers: Officers earn the basic badge after completing technical school or achieving a fully qualified Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). After 7 years in the pilot specialty, they are eligible for the senior badge, and after 15 years, the master badge is awarded.

• Enlisted Personnel: Enlisted personnel wear the basic badge after completing technical school. The senior badge is awarded after attaining the 7-skill level, and the command badge is awarded to those at the master sergeant rank or above, with 5 years of experience after the 7-skill level.
