Army Service Ribbon
Enlisted personnel receive the Army Service Ribbon (ASR) upon the successful conclusion of their initial-entry training, while Officers earn it after completing their basic/orientation or a higher-level course. Established in 1981, the award holds retroactive eligibility, provided the soldier remained on active duty after 1981. In cases where Army members transition from another branch of service and are exempt from basic training, they are eligible for the award after completing 4 months of active duty.
