Air Medal Mini Anodized Medal

The Air Medal (AM) is awarded to military personnel for meritorious achievement during aerial flight, including single acts of merit or heroism. It primarily recognizes individuals on current flying status, either as crew members or non-crew members, engaging in regular and frequent aerial flight as part of their primary duties. The AM may also be granted to individuals with combat obligations requiring frequent flying, making a significant contribution to the operational land combat mission or the aircraft's mission in flight. Established on May 11, 1942, the medal was retroactively awarded from September 8, 1939.
