Air Force Training Ribbon

The Air Force Training Ribbon (AFTR or AFTING) is bestowed upon Air Force personnel upon successful completion of Basic Military Training (BMT) for enlisted individuals, Basic Cadet Training (BCT) at the U.S. Air Force Academy, or upon commissioning through the Air Force ROTC, Officer Training School (OTS), or another officer accession program. Should a service member complete both BMT and later finish an officer accession program, they are entitled to wear a bronze Oak Leaf Cluster device on the ribbon, signifying an additional award. This ribbon, established in 1980, holds retroactive eligibility from August 14th, 1974.
