Air Force Outstanding Unit Award

The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (AFOUA) is an esteemed honor presented to various divisions within the U.S. Air Force, encompassing Reserve and National Guard units. Established in 1954, this accolade is conferred upon units that demonstrate exceptional meritorious service, achieve remarkable feats, excel in combat operations against an armed adversary, or conduct themselves with distinction during military operations involving exposure to hostile actions by a foreign force. Additional AFOUA recognitions are denoted by the display of an Oak Leaf Cluster device on the service ribbon. In cases where the award is granted for combat support or service, a Valor or "V" device is also authorized.
