Air Force Good Conduct Medal Ribbon
The Air Force Good Conduct Medal (AFGCM) is awarded to enlisted U.S. military personnel (excluding U.S. Air Force personnel post-2006) completing three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service." This entails fulfilling a standard enlistment without non-judicial punishments, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offenses. If an offense occurs, the three-year requirement resets, and the service member must attain an additional three years of discipline-free service for the medal to be granted. Established on June 1, 1963, the AFGCM was discontinued in October 2005, with the rationale that good conduct is considered a standard expectation, not an exceptional achievement deserving specific recognition. Oak leaf clusters signify additional awards for the AFGCM.
