Air Force Achievement Full Size Anodized Medal

The Air Force Achievement Medal (AFAM) is presented to junior Air Force personnel, typically officers with the pay grade of O-4 and below, and enlisted personnel below the grade of E-7. It recognizes outstanding achievements or meritorious service not qualifying for the Commendation medal. Local commanders have the authority to grant this award, offering flexibility in its application. While it can be awarded in a combat zone, it specifically acknowledges non-combat meritorious service and is considered a lower-tier meritorious service medal within the U.S. Military. The AFAM serves to commend junior officers and enlisted personnel who are ineligible for higher-tier medals like the Commendation or Meritorious Service Medal.
