Distinctive Unit Insignia, officially known as Unit Crests, are distinctive to each U.S. Army unit. Originating from authorized coat of arms, these insignias are worn by all assigned personnel, with the exception of high-ranking officials. Enlisted personnel affix unit crests to the green service uniform, centered on shoulder loops, while officers adhere to specific placement guidelines on their shoulder loops.
