United States Senior Air Force Maintenance Badge

The United States Senior Air Force Maintenance Badge is a distinguished recognition of a service member’s advanced skills and experience within the Air Force's maintenance specialty. This badge highlights the commitment to excellence and technical proficiency in maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of Air Force equipment and systems.

Badge Criteria:

  • General Officers: General officers wear the basic badge upon entering a headquarters staff or command position. After 12 months, they advance to the next higher-level badge, continuing to upgrade annually.

  • Officers: Officers earn the basic badge upon graduation from technical school or qualification in their Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). After 7 years in the specialty, they receive the senior badge, and after 15 years, they are awarded the master badge.

  • Enlisted Personnel: Enlisted members receive the basic badge after completing technical school. The senior badge is awarded after achieving the 7-skill level, and the master badge is earned after becoming a master sergeant or higher, with 5 years of experience in the specialty following the 7-skill level.

The United States Senior Air Force Maintenance Badge is a symbol of dedication, skill, and leadership within the Air Force’s maintenance operations. It represents an individual’s technical expertise and their critical role in maintaining the Air Force's readiness and capability, ensuring that aircraft and equipment are consistently operational and mission-ready.
