Badge Criteria:

General Officers: General officers wear the basic badge when entering a headquarters staff or command position. They advance to the next higher-level badge after 12 months, continuing to upgrade annually.

Officers: Officers are awarded the basic badge after completing technical school or obtaining a fully qualified Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). After 7 years in the intelligence specialty, they are eligible for the senior badge, and after 15 years, they earn the master badge.

Enlisted Personnel: Enlisted airmen receive the basic badge after completing technical school. Upon reaching the 7-skill level, they earn the senior badge. The master badge is awarded to master sergeants or higher, after 5 years in the specialty following the 7-skill level award.
