242nd Engineer Battalion Unit Crest (Devoir)

The distinctive unit insignia (DUI) worn by the 242nd Engineer Battalion features the motto "Devoir," which translates to "Duty." The scarlet and white coloring represents the Corps of Engineers. Initially approved for the 242nd Coast Artillery in 1928, this DUI underwent several redesignations before being designated for the 242nd Engineer Battalion in 1970. Unit crests are worn on both the Army Class A Service Green and the Army Service Uniform (ASU).
