Southwest Asia Service Mini Medal

The U.S. Armed Forces bestow the Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWASM) upon military personnel who actively served in support of Operation Desert Shield or Desert Storm within specified geographical regions during the Persian Gulf War. Individuals on temporary duty must have completed 30 consecutive days or 60 nonconsecutive days to qualify for the medal, unless a waiver is granted for active combat participation.
