Southwest Asia Service Anodized Mini Medal

The U.S. Armed Forces award the Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWASM) to military personnel who actively served in support of Operation Desert Shield or Desert Storm within specified geographical regions during the Persian Gulf War. Those on temporary duty must have completed 30 consecutive days or 60 nonconsecutive days to qualify for the medal, unless a waiver is granted for active combat participation.
