Southwest Asia Service Full Size Anodized Medal

The U.S. Armed Forces award the Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWASM) to acknowledge military personnel who actively served in support of Operation Desert Shield or Desert Storm within specified geographical regions during the Persian Gulf War. Individuals on temporary duty must have completed 30 consecutive days or 60 nonconsecutive days to qualify for the medal unless a waiver is granted for participation in active combat.
