Prisoner of War Medal Ribbon

The Prisoner of War (POW) Medal is a commendation bestowed by the United States Armed Forces to honor U.S. military members who have been taken prisoner or held captive by opposing forces after April 5, 1917. Eligibility requires individuals to exhibit exemplary character during captivity. Additional recognitions for the Prisoner of War Medal are indicated by Silver Stars worn as attachments on the service medal.
