United States Master Air Force Maintenance Badge

The United States Master Air Force Maintenance Badge is a distinguished award given to service members who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication within the Air Force's maintenance specialty. This prestigious badge reflects the advanced expertise and commitment to excellence of personnel in maintaining and repairing the Air Force's aircraft, vehicles, and equipment.

Badge Criteria:

  • General Officers: General officers wear the basic badge upon entering a headquarters staff or command position. After 12 months, they advance to the next higher-level badge, continuing to upgrade annually.

  • Officers: Officers are awarded the basic badge after completing technical school or achieving a fully qualified Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). After 7 years in the maintenance specialty, they earn the senior badge, and after 15 years, they qualify for the master badge.

  • Enlisted Personnel: Enlisted airmen receive the basic badge after completing technical school. Upon achieving the 7-skill level, they earn the senior badge. The master badge is awarded to master sergeants or above, with 5 years of experience following the 7-skill level award.
