Army Superior Unit Award Ribbon

The Army Superior Unit Award (ASUA) is a recognition presented to United States Army units for exceptional meritorious performance in carrying out challenging missions under extraordinary circumstances during peacetime. Initially proposed in 1980, it received approval in 1985. The award criteria were subsequently revised in 1986 to address concerns about stringent requirements, as only two units had received the decoration under the initial guidelines.
