Air Reserve Meritorious Service

The Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal (ARMS) is conferred upon Air Force Reservists for exemplary conduct, efficiency, and dependability demonstrated over three years of enlisted and active service. Additional recognitions of the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal are indicated by oak leaf clusters. Initially established in 1964 as the "Air Force Reserve Ribbon," it transitioned into a full-sized medal with its current name in 1971. From 1965 to 1974, the award was granted for four years of distinguished reserve service, and in 1975, the eligibility period was reduced to three years.
