Air Medal Full Size Anodized Medal

The Air Medal (AM) is awarded to military personnel for meritorious achievement during aerial flight, acknowledging both ongoing contributions and individual acts of merit or heroism. Primarily, it honors personnel on active crew member or non-crew member flying status, engaged in frequent aerial flights as part of their primary duties. However, it may also be granted to individuals with combat obligations requiring regular flying, or those making notable contributions as crew members despite not being on flying status. Established on May 11, 1942, the AM is retroactively awarded from September 8, 1939.
