Air Medal Full Size Medal

The Air Medal (AM) is bestowed upon military personnel for commendable achievements during aerial flight, acknowledging either sustained meritorious service or single acts of heroism. It is primarily intended for individuals in active crew member or non-crew member flying roles requiring regular and frequent flight engagement. However, it may also be granted to those with combat obligations necessitating regular flying or individuals making noteworthy contributions while not on flying status but performing crew-related functions. Established on May 11, 1942, the AM has retroactive eligibility from September 8, 1939.
