United States Air Force Basic Safety Badge

The United States Air Force Safety Badges are worn by service members to represent their qualifications and expertise within their specific Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC). These occupational badges are an important distinction, indicating the wearer’s training, experience, and progression within the safety career field.

Key Features:

  • General Officers: Initially wear the basic safety badge upon entering a headquarters staff or command position. After 12 months, they can upgrade to the next higher-level badge, with the process continuing every 12 months.

  • Officers: After graduating from technical school or achieving a fully qualified AFSC (if technical school is not required), officers wear the basic badge. After 7 years in the specialty, they can earn the senior badge, with the master badge awarded after 15 years of service in the specialty.

  • Enlisted: Enlisted personnel wear the basic badge after completing technical school. The senior badge is earned after attaining the 7-skill level, and the master badge is awarded to master sergeants or above with 5 years of experience in the specialty after receiving the 7-skill level.

The United States Air Force Safety Badges are a symbol of dedication, professionalism, and advancement within the safety field, showcasing the service member’s growth and commitment to ensuring safety within the Air Force.
