398th Regiment Unit Crest (On the Alert)

This emblem represents the unit crest of the 398th Regiment. The unit's motto, "On The Alert," is inscribed on the bottom scroll. Blue is chosen to honor the Infantry Corps. The wavy stripe symbolizes the Kanawha River, near the unit's base. The diamondback rattlesnake represents West Virginia. Enlisted personnel proudly display these crests on both the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the Army Service Uniform (ASU).
