171st Aviation Regiment Unit Crest (Support From Above)
Unit Crests, officially termed Distinctive Unit Insignia, are unique to each U.S. Army unit, deriving their design from the authorized coat of arms for the unit. All personnel within the organization wear these insignias, with exceptions for general officers, the Sergeant Major of the Army, and the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman. Enlisted personnel attach unit crests to the shoulder loops of the green service uniform, ensuring proper alignment from the outside shoulder seam to the button's edge. Enlisted personnel are restricted from wearing the unit crest on the Class A uniform. For officers, the unit crest is centered on the shoulder loops, equidistant from the inside edge of their grade insignia to the button's outside edge, with the base directed toward the outside shoulder seam.
