U.S. Army Numeral Devices, represented by Arabic numerals, are added to select ribbons and medals to signify multiple decorations of the same award. These devices are unique to the Army, setting it apart from other military branches (except for the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the Air Medal) as the only branch to use numerals on awards.
